We bought a house and moved to Maine in October of 2015. Life is great in Maine! We live 45 minutes from Portland and 20 minutes from the beach. Jen also joined the business full time. YAY! Life doesn’t get better than that! Oh wait, YES it does!!
In December, we connected with the Economic Growth Council of Sanford and learned that they had a small business grant to give away to a deserving company. So, after countless hours, long days and weeks of hard work, we submitted our application and business plan. It was a lot of work but it was worth it! WE WON THE GRANT! WOOO HOOO! We were awarded the grant in April and we are still so amazed at how supportive the City of Sanford and the Economic Growth Council has been and, how our new community has welcomed us. We are so blessed and so thankful for all the help from everyone involved. We will soon have some much needed equipment to help us continue growing our business. What equipment are we getting? Well with orders as large as 15,000 bars, we are having a soap wrapping machine designed and built. We are also getting an automatic soap cutting machine so Derek won’t have to painstakingly cut it with the manual cutter anymore. In addition to the equipment, we are also getting beautiful boxes made for our Bedford Line, which consists of organic skincare and our redesigned soy candles.
